How a school pickup works
Plan around your AUE date. Every Chromebook model has an Auto Update Expiration (AUE) date set by Google. Plan in spring, pick up in summer.
Your side, before pickup
- Deprovision Chromebooks in Google Admin.
- Turn off Activation Lock on Apple devices.
- Deregister Windows laptops from Autopilot.
- Have a manifest ready, if you keep one.
- Set aside anything still locked, and tell us on the quote.
Our side
- We schedule your free pickup and send a packing kit.
- We wipe every drive and test each device.
- You get a summary report of the devices processed and what happened to them.
Plan on 30 to 45 days from when your devices arrive at our facility.
Computer Buyback Program
Retired devices can earn money back
- Chromebooks
- Laptops
- Desktops
- iPads

We value your devices per model and pay you for each one that passes testing. Put it toward next year’s devices. Pickup stays free either way.

Where your district’s devices go
Every drive is wiped. What still has life is rebuilt on our own benches in Florence, Kentucky, and delivered to the nonprofits and schools closing the digital divide. What can’t be saved goes to U.S.-based recyclers.
Refurbished first. Recycled responsibly only when it can’t be saved.

Questions districts ask
Is ITAD pickup really free for schools?
Yes. We recover value by giving devices a second life through refurbishment, so standard ITAD carries no charge.
Is there a buyback or sellback for surplus Chromebooks?
Yes, for devices that pass testing. Each device is tested on its own, pass or fail, and buyback on the ones that pass helps offset next year’s devices.
How is student and faculty data removed?
We wipe every drive before a device is refurbished or recycled. Back up anything the district wants to keep first, because after the wipe it’s gone.
What does the Certificate of Destruction cover?
It covers the Windows and Apple devices in each batch you send, following NIST SP 800-88, and it’s available on request. Chromebooks don’t need one. Keep your device count or manifest with it for your records.
Do federally funded devices have to go to auction?
Your state and your funding source set the rule, so your business office decides. When the devices can go, we schedule the free pickup.
Doing a refresh?
Tell us how many devices, give or take, your AUE date if you know it, and the pickup window you’d like.
